Thing-a-Week 24: Retrofuture

June 13, 2011

Kelsey and I spent the past week-or-so doing the rest of our unpacking and setting up our arts & crafts room. I finally have a space that’s dedicated entirely to artwork, rather than throwing a desk with some pens in a corner wherever it will fit. Now I officially have no excuses for not being creative on a consistent basis.

To celebrate, I finally finished the fourth and final painting in my (first?) series of Hip Dinos.

Sharp as he looks on his own, he’s even better with his buddies in a dino quadtych!

If you’re madly in love with any of these fine reptilian friends and would like to take one  (or all of them) home, be sure to mark July 15–17 on your calendars. I’ll be selling these and more at the Whyte Avenue Art Walk, where I’ll be located in front of American Apparel, between 107 and 108 St. In the mean time, if you want to take a look at some of the other talent that the Art Walk will host, we’ve all been featured in the latest issue of Night of Artists Magazine, which you can find at select locations throughout Edmonton.

Meanwhile, I’ve started doodling robots on Post-It notes whenever my computer locks up at work. Which is frequently.

Over in Caitlinland, my talented partner in crime has been hard at work on her own stuff. I’m especially fond of her work this week — she’s pushing a new style in wonderful directions, and I’ve been keeping a close eye on how well it’s developed. Don’t believe me? Go check it out yourself!
