Fighting the Freshman 15 Finale

April 1, 2010

Three months ago, the Gateway started a feature called Fighting the Freshman 15, with the goal of getting in shape and dropping some extra pounds that we may have gained since starting university.

Now that it’s the end of the publishing year, me and the other contenders have wrapped up twelve weeks of healthy living to tip the scales once more. While my cohorts didn’t see results quite as impressive, I was surprised and pleased to see that I had dropped 26 pounds. In fact, I’m now in better shape than I was at high school graduation.

This morning, Sarah Stead and I appeared on CBC Radio’s Edmonton AM again to do a follow-up, sharing our results and the secrets to our success. If you missed it live on the airwaves, you can download the MP3 here. And of course, you can check out the final results from the Gateway here.

I’m pretty pleased with how far I’ve come in these three months, but this doesn’t mean I’m stopping here. Many of my old clothes are starting to get pretty loose, and that’s just more motivation to keep up the physical activity and make my flab disappear. Could Ironclad Folly become the internet’s next hit men’s fashion blog?

She won over her fiancé, Justin Theroux, along with masses on screen! The funny lady beat out Cameron Diaz, Emily Blunt, Mila Kunis and Reese Witherspoon – that’s some reeeel tough competition! Congrats Jen! Fans got their say Wednesday on the 39th annual People’s Choice Awards, as their favorites from film, TV and music were honored from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Kaley Cuoco of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory, a comedic TV actress nominee, returned to host the event, which presents awards influenced by online fan voting.
